Dr. Raymond Anthony, Professor of Philosophy, University of Alaska, Anchorage
Dr. Anthony is an academic philosopher/ethicist with wide experience in environmental, food, animal and agricultural ethics. He also specializes in Philosophy of Technology, particularly on issues dealing with social justice, participatory democracy, future generations and responsible citizenship. Dr. Anthony is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Currently, he serves as ethics advisor for the AVMA’s Animal Welfare Committee.
He has presented extensively and published on animal ethics, environmental and sustainability ethics. Dr. Anthony received his PhD from Purdue University.
Dr. Candace Croney, Associate Professor of Animal Sciences, Purdue University
Dr. Croney is a renowned expert in applied animal behavior, with an emphasis on animal learning, welfare and ethics. She is an associate professor of animal sciences at Purdue University. Dr. Croney has contributed to nationwide animal welfare efforts working with organizations such as the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, along with many others. She is on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the American Humane Certified program, and her research on farm animal cognition has been featured in national and international broadcast programs.
Dr. Paul Thompson, Professor and W.K. Kellogg Chair in Agriculture, Food and Community Ethics, Michigan State University
Dr. Thompson holds the W.K. Kellogg Chair in Agricultural, Food and Community Ethics at Michigan State University, where he serves on the faculty in the departments of Philosophy, Community Sustainability and Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, He received his PhD in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has held posts at Texas A&M University and Purdue University. Dr. Thompson’s research and teaching has focused on ethical and philosophical topics in food and agriculture. He is the author or co-author of over 200 articles in refereed journals or scholarly books. His book From Field to Fork: Food Ethics for Everyone was published by Oxford University Press in 2015, and The Encyclopedia of Food and Agricultural Ethics was published by Springer in 2014. Dr. Thompson has served on advisory boards and for numerous academic journals, including Environmental Ethics and Agriculture and Human Values. He was a founding member and second President of the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society, which awarded him the Distinguished Career Contribution in Research in 2013.
