Can We Talk?
Can We Talk? Using Values to Engage in Constructive Conversations
is an interactive shared-values curriculum developed by the Center for Food Integrity for high school and college students. First implemented for high school students attending the 2010 FFA Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., “Can We Talk” engages students in discussion about the challenges the food system faces, then — through values-assessment, messaging, and role play exercises — demonstrates how to use values to advocate for the food system with audiences that are often uninformed or misinformed about today’s industry. The food system needs a voice — whether it’s one-on-one conversations, public speaking opportunities, media outreach or online engagement.
