The Center for Food Integrity

We are all stakeholders in our nation’s food supply – the safest, most abundant and most affordable in the world.

The Center for Food Integrity invites you to learn more about today’s food system and to join with us to ensure the availability of high-quality food for generations to come.

The food industry should plan on continued high energy costs says Kevin Lindemer of Global Insight’s energy group. Lindemer will discuss future role of renewable fuels at CFI Summit

Energy costs for producing food are up 150 percent in the last four years and transportation now accounts for 20-cents of every food dollar. What lies ahead will be the focus of an internationally-recognized expert on the oil industry at the 2008 Center for Food Integrity (CFI) Summit. [Click here to download his remarks]

Meeting the Challenge of Being Ethically Grounded, Scientifically Verified and Economically Viable the Focus of the 2008 Food Industry Summit

Company officials on the cutting edge of U.S. food system trends will deliver keynote speeches at the upcoming Center for Food Integrity 2008 Food System Summit. Jack Sinclair, executive vice president of Wal-Mart’s grocery division and Bon Appétit co-founder and CEO Fedele Bauccio will provide their perspectives on how today’s brands are balancing ethics, science and economics in an increasingly complex environment.

Since 2005, Wal-Mart has focused on sustainability, particularly in the areas of energy and product sourcing. In 2007, Bon Appétit launched its “low carbon diet,” connecting food production and climate change.

This year’s Summit will also offer in-depth breakout sessions on Energy/Sustainability, Immigration, Food Animal Well-Being and Food Safety including:

Jocie Antonelli, Notre Dame University Food Services Manager, will discuss her school’s in-depth investigation of the ethical, scientific and economic aspects of egg production systems during a breakout session focusing on Food Animal Well-Being

Nationally-known immigration advocate Tamar Jacoby, President and CEO of ImmigrationWorks, will examine why past efforts have failed and what is needed to ensure a stable, legal workforce in the future
