Events
A group described as the largest and most diverse audience in the five-year history of the event gathered in Chicago for the Center for Food Integrity 2011 Food System Summit. “Food Choices - Challenges – Realities” was the theme for the Summit, attracting more than 200 people from across the U.S. as well as the UK and Canada.
The opening keynote delivered by Dr. Jason Clay of the World Wildlife Fund focused on the need to produce more food using fewer resources if we are going to be able to feed a rapidly growing global population.
The closing keynote presentation came from Joe Quinn, Walmart, senior director, Issue Management and Strategic Outreach, who discussed the pressures food merchants face today and discussed the company’s responsible food approach.
Breakout sessions featured panel discussions addressing Food Animal Well-Being, Food Safety, Nutrition and Health, and Technology and Innovation.
In closing remarks, CFI’s Charlie Arnot addressed the choices available to the food system during a time of seemingly constant change.
