Building
consumer trust and confidence in the contemporary food system
is increasingly challenging amid heightened environmental
concerns, rapidly rising food costs, skyrocketing energy
prices and the wide array of other issues facing the food
system. To be successful we must chart a course that addresses
the ethical concerns of our stakeholders while assuring
systems are grounded in science and remain profitable.
“Balancing
for Success” is the focus of the Center for Food Integrity’s
2008 Summit set for October 8-9 in Indianapolis. Industry
leaders will offer opening and closing keynotes. We’ll
also offer breakout sessions where we share the latest nationwide
consumer research, hear from a consumer panel and discuss
food system issues with industry experts. The 2008 summit
will focus on:
- Energy/Sustainability
- Immigration
- Food Animal Well-Being
- Food Safety
You can learn more
about these issues and our perspective by viewing CFI’s
Platform Statements.
Last year’s
summit was a great success, and we anticipate even stronger
programming this year. Comments from 2007 summit participants:
- “Short,
concise, to the point. Great speakers.”
- “Great
cross section of speakers and points of view.”
- “Timely
topics, good organization, good networking opportunity.”
- “Engaging
dialogue between food system stakeholders.”
